Head of School – John Wilson B.A., B.Ed., M.Ed.

John Wilson PrincipalJohn has been the Head of School since 2005 and his experience with the school includes serving as Chair of the Board from 1996 to 1998. He obtained a B.A. and a B.Ed. from Simon Fraser University, specializing in Psychology, History and Learning Disabilities, and completed his Masters in Educational Administration at the University of British Columbia.

Prior to working at Kenneth Gordon, John held several senior positions with the North Vancouver School District where he was involved with educational initiatives in math, career programs, counseling and student leadership.

 

Director of Instruction – Rosita Tam B.Sc., M.A.

Tam RositaRosita obtained a Masters of Arts in Special Education and Educational Psychology at the University of British Columbia. Before arriving at Kenneth Gordon, Rosita cultivated her expertise in special needs education through a variety of teaching positions and as a district consultant for resource teams in the Vancouver School District. She is involved in resource development in the area of mathematics education. She has co-authored a mathematics textbook series that is currently used across Canada.

 

Faculty & Tutors

Kenneth Gordon has over 40 dedicated staff members, all of whom participate in ongoing professional development programs gaining specialized skills for meeting individual learning needs.

Teachers are certified through the BC College of Teachers or the Office of the Inspector of Independent Schools, and all have a Bachelor of Education Degree, with many holding Master’s Degrees.

Therapeutic academic tutors certified to use the Orton-Gillingham approach deliver all tutoring.

 

Specialized Consultants

Most of our students have special needs, and often these needs are complex and undocumented. The School has contracted a Speech and Language Pathologist, an Occupational Therapist and an Educational Psychologist to provide specialized professional services to the School. These professionals provide insight and guidance that help us to better meet the needs of our students.
